Farrar Associates Construction Management recently completed the exterior (envelope) restoration of this historic boat building School building. The major components of this project were window replacement where the existing steel windows were in desperate need of replacement.
To accomplish this work the existing windows were removed with compliance to Asbestos abatement procedures allowing masons, skilled in historic restoration to repair surrounding brick openings. Following the masons was the installation of radiuses wood blocking installed by the Farrar carpentry crews.
Farrar led the planning effort and continued as General Contractor completing this project on schedule and under the established budget. This project added to other successful Farrar projects with IYRS. Previously Farrar was the General Contractor / Construction Manager for restoration of the Historic Mill Building and the recent completion of the IYRS Brooks Building, a 22,000 sq/ft building and parking facilities.
The completion of the window replacement for this facility provides for safety and introduction of natural light. The transformational improvements are recognized by all and the Farrar team was pleased to be the leader in the IYRS projects that have shaped this waterfront campus.
