Owners Representative, Project Management

The transformation of a small community hospital into a healthcare center equipped to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

The project involved implementing Newport Hospital's multi-phase master plan to upgrade a small community hospital into a healthcare center. The hospital remained fully functional throughout the project, providing health services to Newport County without interruption.

Phase I – Demolish existing buildings

  • Renovate 30,000 sq. ft. of interior space
  • Relocate executive administration offices
  • Approximate cost: $17 million

Phase II – Construction of $42 million ambulatory facility

  • New and expanded emergency room
  • Surgical suite comprising five operating rooms
  • Diagnostic imaging department
  • Nuclear medicine department

Phase III – Renovate areas adjacent to Phase II construction

  • Relocate departments displaced in Phase II
  • Value: $12 million

Our work included managing the renovation of patient floors, converting double occupancy rooms to single occupancy, and incorporating the latest medical monitoring systems. Two floors were completed, and we managed the renovation of a third patient floor of over 14,000 sq. ft. At the request of the hospital board, we were retained to assist with the procurement and scheduling of all FF&E items.
